Team Structure/Try-outs

Try-outs will be regionalized to the Yampa Valley (Steamboat Springs, North Routt, South Routt, Hayden, Craig). Try-outs will be held and the best players will be selected to participate. If enough qualified participants try-out: A, B, and C teams will be formed. Decisions on cuts will be made by the HAB coaching staff.

* Registering for Try-outs does not guarantee a spot on the team.

Development Team: HAB will not turn away anyone who wants to improve as a basketball player. For those who do not make one of the team(s) the Development Team offers a great chance to improve. Development team players will attend each practice and get the same skill development coaching as all competitive team players.

* Team participants and Development participants will be seperated during practice at times to ensure the team participants have the best chance for success during competition.

The team(s) will participate in THREE AWAY regional tournaments. It is HAB’s goal that the team(s) participate in tournaments where the participants can have a fun and competitive experience that creates confidence for future competitive basketball experiences.

HAB is planning to host the inagural HAB April Madness Basketball Tournament April 6, 7, 8 in Steamboat Springs. This will be a home tournament for our teams.

Practices will be run by HAB skill development coaches and team coaches. Participants can expect one to two practices per week during the season at Yampa Valley regional schools.

Participants will be expected to attend the majority (80 %) of practices and skill development sessions. Participants will be expected to attend all tournaments.
