Competitive - HAB Select Grades 9/12 Boys

HAB Select is designed to give grades 9th through 12th aged boys within the Yampa Valley region a chance to play competitive basketball. Try-outs will be held and qualified participants will be selected to travel and compete in front range (Denver area) tournaments. It is HAB's goal that the team(s) participate in tournaments where the participants can have a competitive and successful experience. Participants will gain an understanding of what it takes to compete and be successful at the competitive level.

Important Dates

February 1 - Registration Opens

March 10 - Registration Closes

Try Outs occur March 17th. 3 - 5 pm at the High School. Meeting will be after a practice if deemed necessary. Teams will be created and finalized.

Season runs March 18th through May 19th.

Age

The HAB Select boys program will be broken up into two aged based team(s).

HAB Select (A14 - A16)

HAB Select (A16 - A18)

Team Structure/Try-outs

Try-outs will be regionalized to the Yampa Valley (Steamboat Springs, North Routt, South Routt, Hayden, Craig). Try-outs will be held and the best players will be selected to participate. If enough qualified player's try-out: A, B, and C teams may be formed. Participants will be placed on team(s) based on their talent level. Decision on participant placement and cuts will be made by the HAB coaching staff.


Tournament/Games

The team(s) will participate in FIVE front range tournaments. Front range locations include but are not limited to the greater Denver area. Tournaments may be one-day and/or two-day overnight tournaments.

Practice

Practices will be run by HAB skill development coaches and team coaches. Participants can expect one to two practices per week during the season at Yampa Valley regional schools.

Participant Commitment

Participants will be expected to attend the majority (80 %) of practices and skill development sessions. Participants will be expected to attend all tournaments.

Parent Volunteers

Parent volunteers are a crucial asset to the Competitive program's success! Parents will have the opportunity to volunteer in multiple capacities.
