Competitive - Introduction to Competitive Boys
Introduction to Competitive Basketball is designed to introduce competitive basketball to boys in 5th-6th grades. This is not a recreational league. Try-outs will be held and the best 10 players will be selected to participate. The team will compete in regional Western Slope tournaments.
General Information

Season runs mid-February through early April.

Team Structure/Try-outs

Try-outs will be regionalized to the Yampa Valley (Steamboat Springs, North Routt, South Routt, Hayden, Craig). Try-outs will be held and the best 10 players will be selected to participate. Decisions on Cuts will be made by the HAB coaching staff.

* Registering for try-outs does not guarantee a spot on the team.

Tournaments/Games

The team will participate in four regional tournaments. It is HAB's goal that the team participate in tournaments where the participants can have a fun and competitive experience that creates confidence for future competitive basketball experiences.

Practice

Practices will be run by HAB skill development coaches and team coaches. Participants can expect one to two practices per week during the season at Yampa Valley regional schools.

Participant Commitment

Participants will be expected to attend the majority (80%) of practices and skill development sessions. Participants will be expected to attend all tournaments.

Parent Volunteers

Parents volunteers are a crucial asset to the Competitive program's success. Parents will have the opportunity to volunteer in multiple capacities.
