Important Dates
November 7th, 2023 - Tryout Registration opens (Tryouts are free, but it will show the price of program still. Complete the registration and trust you will not be charged at this time.)
Tryout Sessions:
- Monday, December 4th at SGS or SSMS 5:45-7:45 pm, 2023
- Wednesday, December 6th at SGS or SSMS 5:45-7:45 pm, 2023
Teams created and rosters out on December 9th, 2023. There will be ONE team per grade most likely.
Once your player is on the roster, then you will register for the program on December 9th and before December 12th. We will have our first practices the week before Christmas break begins.
Season runs January through early March.
Team Structure/Try-outs
Try-outs will be regionalized to the Yampa Valley (Steamboat Springs, North Routt, South Routt, Hayden, Craig). Try-outs will be held and the best 10 players will be selected to participate. Participants will be placed on team(s) based on their talent level. Decision on participant placement and cuts will be made by the HAB coaching staff.
Tournament/Games
iHoops Winter League - 6 week league with an end of season tournament based at Superior/North Denver Location. Our schedule is tentatively scheduled for every other Saturday Starting January 13th and a final tournament February 24th and 25th. The final schedule is still TBD.
The team(s) will participate in THREE western slope and front range tournaments. Western slope locations include but are not limited to: Grand Junction, Rifle, Montrose, Glenwood, etc. Front Range locations include but are not limited to the greater Denver area. Tournaments may be one-day and/or two-day overnight tournaments.
Practice
Practices will be run by HAB skill development coaches and team coaches. Participants can expect three practices during the week and weekend training available when no travel is committed during the season at Yampa Valley regional schools.
Practice - Starts Dec 11th, 2023
We will aim to have two to three practices a week. Below is a tentative schedule and hopefully not too much tweaking will occur. This could be subject to change a little though.
Mondays 7:15 - 8:45 pm @SSMS or SGS
Wednesdays 5:30 - 7:30 pm @ SSMS or SGS
Fridays 5:45 - 7:30 pm SSMS (possibly another morning session or one of the evening slots)
Saturdays or Sundays as determined by schedule.
Tournaments/Travel
TBD, 2 Front Range Tournaments end of January, February and early March
TBD, 2022 Coalridge and/or Glenwood Tournament Early March
Participant Commitment
Participants will be expected to attend the majority (80%) of practices and skill development sessions. Participants will be expected to attend all tournaments.
Parent Volunteers
Parent volunteers are a crucial asset to the Competitive program's success! Parents will have the opportunity to volunteer in multiple capacities. We will need a coach, but we will provide tons of support and help throughout the season.

Cost: $695 (Payment Plan available) 3 payments of roughly $233 spread out over 3 months.
