Season runs March through mid-April.
Team Structure/Try-outs
Try-outs will be regionalized to the Yampa Valley (Steamboat Springs, North Routt, South Routt, Hayden, Craig). Try-outs will be held (February 28th at SSMS) and the best 10 players will be selected to participate. Decision on participant placement and cuts will be made by the HAB coaching staff.
Tryouts will be held at SSMS and are TBD
6th, 7th, and 8th graders
Tournament/Games
The team will participate in THREE western slope and front range tournaments. Western slope locations include but are not limited to: Grand Junction, Rifle, Montrose, Glenwood, Steamboat Springs, etc. Front range locations include but are not limited to the greater Denver area. Tournaments may be one-day and/or two-day overnight tournaments. The schedule below is an example. We will send out a Google Form to plan our schedule with our parents' input.
March 12- 13th, 2023 iHoops Nation and Colorado RoughRiders in Denver area
April 2- 3rd, 2023 Coal Ridge Tournament.
April 16-17th, 2022 iHoops Nation in Northglenn.
Practice
Practices will be run by HAB skill development coaches and team coaches. Participants can expect one to two practices per week during the season at Yampa Valley regional schools. Practices will most likely be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays with two or three per week.
Participants will be expected to attend the majority (80 %) of practices and skill development sessions. Participants will be expected to attend all tournaments.
Parent Volunteers
Parent volunteers are a crucial asset to the Competitive program's success! Parents will have the opportunity to volunteer in multiple capacities.
